Share a Spoon: Not for jerks.
I'm not trying to step on Momma's toes, but I am also adding a cake recipe.
It's really the only apple recipe I've ever made.
It's okay. I figured there would be lots of cakes and desserts and whatnot, because who doesn't love an appley delicious dessert?
Jerks, that's who.
Anyway, this is my Aunt Hazel's apple cake recipe and I'm sharing it because it is damn delicious.
Also, it's the cake that made me address certain counter accessibility issues in my kitchen. You can read about that here.
In order to offer up something other than cake, here is a recipe for
Apple Ginger Porkchops. I haven't tried it yet, but I plan to soon. It looks very good.
If you decide to try it out, let me know how it turns out.
FRESH APPLE CAKE
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
2 1/2 cup chopped cooking apples
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
In a large mixing bowl, cream margarine and sugar; beat in egg. Mix the dry ingredients together with the apples and nuts and add to the creamed mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40-45 minutes, until it tests done. I use a 9x15 inch loaf pan.
CARAMEL FROSTING
2 cups brown sugar
1 stick margarine
1/3 cup canned milk
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp vanilla
Mix first 3 ingredients in a saucepan; cook for 1 minute; add baking powder and vanilla, mix well. Cool. Beat until thick.
ENJOY!
I can't wait to try out everyone's recipes.
