Exactly where does the ice pack go?

Weigh in day again. Arghh. I had two great weeks in a row, with a total loss of 3.8. Woohoo. I am back today to report a gain. I know. I said this wouldn't happen. I said I would come back with a loss. I said I would not let you guys down.

Well, I guess I failed.

But, not really. I don't feel like I failed. Yes, I gained. I'm up 2.8 from last week. I'm actually okay with that. I kind of expected a gain when TOM came to visit. That bastard always shoves food down my throat. He cares nothing about my struggle. Jerk.

In an effort to keep him at bay, I tried to avoid the bad stuff. You know, all those deliciously sweet, yummy things that I crave. I tried, but I didn't do so well. My dad's birthday celebration was Sunday so I had a small piece of carrot cake. But, I also had veggies with low fat dip and a broccoli salad. I went out drinking with the girls on Saturday, but instead of having multiple Orange Crushes (which are super expensive and super full of calories), I opted for 2 lite beers.

I went to church with my parents and they had fellowship afterwards. Not a fat free item in sight - just boxes and boxes of donuts and one lonely little bowl of grapes. I had one donut and 2 bunches of grapes. Then I went to the beach and walked with the pup.

You see, I knew that I was going to be facing challenges this week. I decided to cut myself some slack. The most important thing to me this weekend was reconnecting with friends and celebrating my dad's 79th birthday and that's what I focused on. Yeah, I may have eaten more than I would have liked. But, I still made good choices and I am okay with that.

My exercise goal was unmet. I did some yoga, but was still unable to do much more than that because my back has not improved enough to incorporate cardio yet. I returned to the chiro yesterday and found out that my piriformis muscle is what has tightened up. Yeah, I somehow strained my butt muscle. Awesome. Anyway, that's the muscle the sciatic nerve runs through, so that's why I'm having nerve pain down my leg.

I have some specific stretches to go along with the yoga and I go back next week. Strained butt muscles. This is my life.

(sigh)

So, onward and downward for this week.

I have no recipes to share, but I did have the best salad I've ever had on Saturday. It was a guacamole salad. Romaine lettuce, red onion, monterey jack cheese, sliced avocados and mango vinagrette in a tortilla bowl. Yummy. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

Hope you are all doing well.

Have you had to face any food challenges this week? If so, how did you handle them?

  1. Good job cutting yourself some slack this week - I think that's the most important part of diets, accepting that it's not always going to be perfect and continuing on even when there are setbacks.

  2. It is all just part of the journey. No one has perfect weeks all the time. Take it easy on yourself.

  3. I feel like I've missed so much! I'm sorry, I've been uber MIA for a week now.... a little bastard called 'life' got in the way (how effing dare he?!)

Anyway, keep on with it, you won't have good weeks every week, if it were that easy, everyone would be a skinny bitch. It's more important that you enjoyed your time with the family.

This week I'm doing a cleanse (oie) my diet is seriously restricted.... and I have to take some pilss that taste like they have ground up animal poo and packed it all together in pill form - fun.

You'll do better this week :)

  4. I was up 2.2 this week. Seriously annoyed by that! Considering that I started the weight loss journey 3 weeks ago and have lost a total of 2.6 it's pretty disappointing to be back to where I started.

Oh well...what can I do but try harder?

BTW, the salad sounds amazing. Yum!
