First Post Flashback: Beginners' Butterflies

I borrowed this little idea from Gun Diva. She is doing a First Post Flashback. Sounds like fun, right? I think it's interesting to see how we all started this blogging journey. It's also interesting to see how our voices may have changed since then. I encourage you all to play along. Leave me a comment with a link to your post. I'd love to see your first posts.

Here is my very first post. Enjoy!
If you go here, you can read about how I came up with the title for this little blog. In case you didn't already know. :)

The first thing to know about me is that I am a procrastinator. I have been thinking about doing this for awhile (I won't say how long - first impressions and all). My friends have been pushing me to do this for awhile. I think they have ulterior motives though. There's a certain point where you have to say 'no more stupid stories on the work email'. It was never an official policy or anything. I just think my coworkers had trouble taking crisis calls while reading about my semi-humorous adventures. That's what they say, anyway. They also say they want me to be famous so they can be my assistants and live off of my fortune, forever giving up the glamour of mental health crisis work.

The second thing you should know about me is that I lack self confidence. Which plays heavily into the procrastination. I would've started blogging a long time ago if I didn't think it would end horribly. I envisioned a whole world of bloggers similar to 'the cool skinny girls' who would laugh me off of the internet. Then I would be forced to become a recluse, wearing pajamas and eating ice cream 24/7 until the fire department had to use the jaws of life to extract me from the house. That's not the kind of celebrity I'm interested in.

I got over my hesitation and fear of ridicule when I actually started looking at different blog sites. I saw everything from decoupage delights to essentially what read as a suicide note. Considering what's out there, I feel okay posting tidbits about my oh-so-ordinary life.

And just to clarify, I am not really 'girly'. My betrothed tells me how un-girly and downright oaf-ish I am every chance he gets, in fact. The title stems from a rather embarrassing cycling adventure, which I will post about later. And which my betrothed forced me into. True love makes you do silly, silly things.

More about that later...
